Classifier

Bases: RunnableSerializable[DecisionRequest, DecisionResponse]

Typed decision model with LCEL, tools, batching and native asynchronous I/O.

Credentials/options resolve explicit values, then FINIC_* environment defaults. Use a context manager to reuse owned connection pools. Outside a context, owned pools live for one invocation (including configurable-field clones). An injected FinicClient remains caller-owned. Streaming yields one complete decision, not token deltas.

to_json()

Inherited Runnable methods such as batch, abatch, bind, and with_config follow the LangChain Runnable interface. See the usage guide for resource lifetime and invocation behavior.

HTTP client and errors

Synchronous/asynchronous Finic transport with bounded retries and owned-client cleanup.

Configure credentials explicitly or through FINIC_API_KEY. Injected HTTP clients remain caller-owned. Use context managers for deterministic resource cleanup.

close() -> None

Close owned synchronous resources. Use aclose after any async use.

aclose() -> None async

Close owned resources; injected httpx clients remain caller-owned.

Provider or response-contract error with optional HTTP status and request ID.

Optional middleware

Requires langchain-finic[middleware].

Optional LangChain agent middleware. Install langchain-finic[middleware].

ModelChoice

Bases: BaseModel

A host chat model and the circumstances in which it should handle a run.

Bases: _ClassifierMiddleware

Choose once per invocation, then use that chat model throughout its tool loop.

Classifies the latest human message. On classifier errors or low probability, use the explicitly configured fallback; otherwise stop the run. Selection is stored in graph state, never on this shared middleware instance.
